Meet Keith

Welcome, I’m Keith and this is Slánú Nua Psychotherapy.

I am a pre-accredited psychotherapist with the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I also hold a graduate membership with the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Let me go through with you a bit about me, where I studied and who I worked with.

The education system was not easy for me. After the Leaving Cert, I decided to do a PLC. Unbeknownst to me, it was the best path I could’ve went down.

I first did a Higher National Diploma in Applied Biology, having loved Biology in school. I then went and did a QQI Level 5 in Business Studies where I found my love for Psychology.

I then went and did my BSc in Applied Psychology in Dun Laoghaire IADT. I was in two minds about going into work or going onto to do a Master’s so I bit the bullet and decided to do a MSc in Clinical Psychology in Utrecht University. I learned a lot and got the opportunity to work with amazing people and clients.

My love for psychotherapy was made from there and after a year of work, I done an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy specialising in integrated modalities at the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences.

My academic journey led me to work and volunteer and amazing places, organisations and companies.

Where I Studied

My studies have brought me to work and volunteer at a variety of places.

I have volunteered with Jigsaw Dublin City on their Youth Advisory Panel where we all advocated for youth mental health.

I volunteered with the National Youth Council of Ireland, on their Young Voices, delegating common concerns and issues important to the young people of Ireland in Ireland and abroad.

I worked extensively in retail for years, eventually working as an assistant psychologist and LGBTQ+ inclusion worker at Spirasi - National Centre for Survivors of Torture.

I then completed my student psychotherapy placement at SOSAD in Drogheda, providing therapy to a variety of clients.

The skills and knowledge I’ve gained in both my studies and work, I hope to be able to use and provide a collaborative atmosphere for people who want to explore therapy.
